David M. Cvet

Canada

David, B.Sc., is a graduate of the University of Toronto with majors in biochemistry & genetics, and computer science. He pursued a career as an information technology (IT) professional for 25 years. His IT career spans from the earliest days of systems engineering on mainframes and super-computers to architecting and designing computing environments for international financial institutions, to ultimately achieving positions as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for a number of advanced-technology companies including startups. His work provided opportunities to live and work in various countries in Europe and South America during his career. He retired from the IT profession in February 2004, and turned his attention to pursuing personal interests, however, he continues to enjoy gigs (is there therapy for this?), having a preference towards remote gigs (i.e. working from his home office), allowing for initial face-to-face meetings to define the parameters for the projects.

The past five+ years, he has designed, developed and administered a number of websites, for charitable and commercial corporations designing and implementing various solutions including infra-structure such as SQL database systems for the management and administration of records, membership, payments, and payments capture systems and integration with PayPal. Skills applicable include HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, Perl, CGI, MySQL, SQL and Javascript. Depending upon the requirements, some or most of the technologies mentioned were employed in the various websites created.
